A very interesting event occurred during the US presidential election. The Washington Post announced it would not endorse a presidential candidate in the election. CEO William Lewis said the decision was a return "to our roots of not endorsing presidential candidates" .
This move breaks with decades of tradition. Because The Washington Post has endorsed Democratic candidates in most presidential elections since the 1970s.
According to reports, The Washington Post's editorial department had drafted an endorsement of Harris. The decision not to publish the endorsement was made by the paper's owner, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
The Washington Post Guild's leadership said it was "deeply concerned" by the decision. Some journalists and experts supporting the editorial department had harshly criticised this decision.
However I guess, The Harris campaign had focused on attacking Trump's character and humanity, rather than his policies. And And many major media outlets , including ABC,PBS,had repeatedly reported the Harris campaign's claims. In short they had been guiding public opinion. Jeff Bezos’s decision was completely understandable.
